How masterclasses work
Masterclasses are intensive private lessons, offering practical, personalised solutions to your musical frustrations, problems and roadblocks.
1. Pre-lesson preparation
30 minutes
You will be asked to complete a short lesson brief outlining your questions, problems, and what you would like help with. You can also send links to recordings, videos, original compositions, recent performances and other supporting material for me to review in advance. Any material you share with me is completely confidential and will only be used for the purpose of our lesson together.
I spend 30 minutes reviewing your brief and will prepare resources, exercises, feedback and other helpful information to discuss during the Zoom session.
2. One-on-one Zoom lesson
90 minutes
During the 90 minute Zoom lesson we discuss your questions and issues and any of the materials you shared. We will workshop solutions together, and create practice and homework plans for after the session ends. You will always leave the lesson inspired, and with a clear set of next steps to explore in your own practice.
3. Follow-up masterclasses
You can book follow-up masterclasses on a timetable that suits your goals, whether that is every few weeks or just once every couple of months.
Who are masterclasses for?
Best suited to intermediate+ students
Masterclasses are designed for you to take what we workshop in the 90 minute session and then apply it in your own practice. You don’t have to be an expert at your instrument yet, but you should have some independence and self-motivation to get the most out of the format.
Options for beginner students
If you are just starting out I recommend ongoing weekly lessons instead of masterclasses. You will progress much faster with regular lessons and we can address any technique issues promptly so you don’t develop unhelpful habits that are hard to break later.

Occasionally lessons may need to be cancelled by me due to illness or other commitments. In this case the lesson will be rescheduled if possible, or the fee refunded.
If technical issues mean the lesson is cut short or can’t go ahead I will do my best to make up the remaining time on another day / time, subject to availability.
Punctuality
Lessons must run to schedule and lessons will finish on time even if you are late to the Zoom meeting.
Submitting masterclass materials
I request you submit your materials for masterclasses 24 hours in advance. Masterclass materials include recordings, videos, sheet music, original songs and any particular topics you would like to cover in the lesson. If you forget to submit your materials in advance we will review them together during the 90 minute Zoom lesson time.
About Me
Bachelor of Music with Honours - Victorian College of the Arts
Specialist in:
Guitar, ukulele & double bass skills for singers & songwriters
Singing for guitarists, bassists, pianists and other instrumentalists
Singing & vocal coaching
Guitar, ukulele & double bass tuition
Music theory, songwriting, lyric writing, composition & creativity
Since establishing my private teaching studio in 2014 in Melbourne, Australia, I have had the privilege of tutoring a wide range of students of all skill levels, from children to retirees, including absolute beginners and professionals broadening their skills.
My combined vocal and stringed instrument experience has led me to work primarily with singer-songwriters looking to improve their instrumental, music theory and songwriting skills, and instrumentalists wanting to learn how to sing. I also offer standalone guitar, ukulele, double bass and contemporary vocal lessons.
I have also designed and led numerous songwriting and composition workshops, including workshops for Melbourne University Student’s Union, Firebird School of Music in Brunswick and international online learning platform Lessonface.
I am a graduate of the Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Australia and have been performing for over ten years as a vocalist, double bassist and guitarist with a variety of professional ensembles. I have released three critically acclaimed albums of original music, and was nominated as Best Folk Artist in the 2021 Music Victoria Awards.
In 2023 I transitioned my studio fully online, allowing me to travel and perform worldwide while continuing to provide lessons. I am currently based in the beautiful Czech republic, and lessons are available for my Australian students weekdays from 6 - 9pm AEST/AEDT, and for my European students weekdays from 9 - 11am and 4 - 7pm CET/CEST.
