Do you find it hard to memorise music, lyrics or chords? Or does the thought of playing without the music in front of you send you into a panic? If yes, this is for you.

In today’s video, I share a simple memory-first practice habit I use myself with my students: try playing your piece before you open the music. Even if you can only remember one bar, that’s the starting point. Play from memory, peek at the music to fill the gaps, and then try again. You’ll be surprised how much comes back when you give yourself the chance.

There’s also a guided meditation at the end to help you settle your focus and start your practice with calm attention.
